Venue

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands on which we will meet. Bendigo is located within the Country the Dja Dja Wurrung and the Taungurung Peoples of the Kulin Nation.

The meeting will be held at The Capital Theatre (Bendigo, VIC) from Tuesday February 11, to Thursday February 13, 2025.  There will be a welcome reception on the evening of Monday February 10. A conference dinner will be held on the evening of Wednesday February 12 at the Rifle Brigade Hotel.

To assist in navigating the venue, delegates can consult this map of Bendigo.

Transport

Bendigo is serviced by a V/Line train from Melbourne, which leaves from Southern Cross Station. If you are arriving at Melbourne Airport (MEL), you can either take the SkyBus to Southern Cross and then take the V/Line, or else take Bus 479 to Sunbury Station and then take the V/Line from there. (The latter option may be quicker.) A regular V/Line train takes a little less than 2 hours from Southern Cross to Bendigo.

Note that the SkyBus is run by a private company and has its own separate ticket (which can be purchased at the airport). The V/Line trains and Bus 479 (and indeed all public transport within Melbourne, and also the buses in Bendigo) are ticketed using myki. A myki card can be purchased at major train stations and 7-Eleven stores. If you have an Android phone you can also have a Mobile myki added to your Google Wallet, and touch on and off with your phone (this is not possible on iPhones). Fares are capped at $10.60 per day.

If you are arriving at one of the other airports in Melbourne then you will need to make your way to Southern Cross and take the train from there. Essendon Airport is serviced by buses and trams, while Avalon Airport has its own SkyBus which goes to Southern Cross.

The Capital Theatre is approximately 1km from Bendigo Train Station.

Note that Bendigo is more than 130km from Melbourne Airport so a taxi or Uber would cost hundreds of dollars and is not advisable.

Bendigo also has a small regional airport and there are daily flights to and from Sydney on Qantas.

Accommodation

Please note that any emails from external parties offering to arrange accommodation for you are scams and should be ignored.  Unfortunately, this type of scam is not uncommon.  Here is a screenshot of one that circulated before the 2022 AustMS meeting at UNSW.

Special deals have been arranged with three local motels:

These must be booked before November 30. They must be booked directly and not through a travel agency. You should mention the code “ANZAMP2025” to get a discount. All three hotels have rooms with several beds which might be useful for students and postdocs which may share a room. Then, the prices will be far below $100 and ideal for small budgets. Thus, we encourage students and postdocs to try to organise themselves and tell that they want to have those rooms.

There are also many other accommodation options nearby at a range of prices.
